Day tours

Please refer to our Overland trips for longer tours around the Western and Eastern Cape of South Africa

Day tours from Judy's base in Somerset West in the Western Cape would usually take you around the Cape peninsula and winelands.

While Judy will suggest a route to meet your interests and preferences, popular destinations include:

The Cape winelandsRustenberg

The beautiful Cape winelands are home to many of the country's best vineyards and fine examples of Cape-Dutch architecture.

The delightful historic town of Stellenbosch, situated in a magnificent mountain valley - together with Franschhoek and Paarl - offers some of the best South African wines in a stunning setting. Further afield, you could visit Robertson, Wellington or the West Coast.

As a specialist wine guide, Judy can select the wineries that offer your favourite styles. You could enjoy lunch en route - options range from winery cheese platters to five-star cuisine, and everything in between.

Cape Town and environs

Cape Town offers two World Heritage Sites and a national park within its city limits. With a wide range of attractions, a tour of the city will give you an insight into the history and culture of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Your day might include Table Mountain (weather permitting), Cape Point, the penguins at Boulders near Simonstown, and time at the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront precinct.

Coastal route

Driving along the coastal route towards Hermanus, you will enjoy dramatic scenery where the mountains meet the sea. You may want to visit beautiful nature reserves or try your luck with whale watching (in season) - Hermanus has the status of being the world's best land-based whale watching destination.

A popular town, Hermanus has retained its historical fisherman's village heritage, giving an insight into its history. Beach walks appeal to many visitors, with clean sand and fresh sea air.

Gardens and nature reserves

The Western Cape boast many gardens and nature reserves. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is world-renowned for its diverse display of Cape flora and its magnificent setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

Judy recently guided a group of garden lovers around the Western Cape, discovering several 'hidden' treasures she will gladly share with her clients.

"We enjoyed three unforgettable days in the winelands - the itinerary was perfect, the pace of the tour 'spot-on' and the wine tasting enhanced by Judy's observations. A spectacular tour! Thank you very much, Judy, for making the tour extra special."
